Franklin County and the City of Ottawa signed a proclamation on April 3rd establishing a Food Policy Council for the county and organized through the health department. The Council's purpose is to examine our community and make recommendations to leadership on ways to improve access to and consumption of healthy foods. Increasing fruit and vegetable intake is an objective for our community in an effort to reduce the occurance and severity of diseases such as diabetes and cancer.
